MicroSynbiotiX is a company that is dedicated to finding a solution to the overuse of antibiotics in farmed fish. Through the use of algal genomics and molecular biology, they are able to engineer microalgae to produce inexpensive, therapeutic proteins and vaccines. This method of oral delivery significantly reduces labor and post-processing production costs, allowing for more cost-effective vaccines that are easy to use. With this technology, it is possible to eliminate the need for antibiotics, reduce fish mortality rates, prevent diseases from decimating fish stocks, and improve global food security.
