Costcutter - Ballina

Very disappointed with the staff. This is the not the first awkward experience I he encountered with cost cutters staff. Today I went in to buy lager. As I appear he’s the checkouts and was queuing behind a lady who went to grab something to add to her shopping, the checkout lady was looking at me and called over her fellow female colleague. To this point I assumed the other lady was telling her to go over to the other till to check my items out but instead they decided to stare and whisper for a bit. I was the only person they could see from their view and I am 100% certain they were looking at me. After they finished their gossip the other lady called to the other till and straight away asked for my Id. I would like to inform I am 20 years old. She looked at it for a good for seconds. This is not the first time the staff have been smart about my age and asking for my Id. I understand staff and shops do need to ask for id, working in a bar myself I know you have to ask customers that may look underage id, but what I would never do is make them feel uncomfortable and made feel judged or even bitched about to another colleague. In my personal opinion all they had to do was scan my item and asked for Id. It was really noticeable that they decided to gossip and judge me for a young person buying alcohol. As I said this is not the first time. I once went in with my father a few months back and my dad was buying a bottle of wine but during the middle of the checkout dad forgot to pick up something so went off to get it. The lady then asked me for ID to which I respond, my dad is buying not me, and she again asked and I again had to explain no my dad is paying. My dad then came over and explained it was not for me and he then had to explain that I was 20 years of age. I am frustrated with this experience. If I look young for my age do not stand there and look at me and judge and gossip whether I am of age. Simply ask for my id. I will never be buying from cost cutters ballina again!
